Textured square vessel with bobbly turquoise edge.

This slab-built square piece is all about the layered, textured surfaces and the contrast between matt and shiny. It has a wavy edge along one side, made of small bobbles of clay. I made the various textures by rolling clay over a cut lino plate and then later with hand tools. It has been glazed with  a deep blue interior in contrast with the white outer walls. I painted wax resist to repel some of the white glaze, to leave the rich tones of the exposed stoneware. It is finished with a thick matt turquoise glaze along the bobbly edge.
